Junior League Mentor Shoaib Malik available to the national team

Shoaib Malik last wore a Pakistani shirt against Bangladesh in Mirpur in November last year and has been away from international cricket ever since.

According to his understanding with captain Babar Azam, he can be called up for the national team where needed.

In February, Shoaib, representing Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 7, was the fourth successful batsman of the event with 401 runs.

The three players before him were openers. Since then, he has not participated in competitive cricket. Participation in sessions and local matches continues.

The recent announcement by the PCB to appoint him as the mentor of the Pakistan Junior League along with Javed Miandad, Shahid Afridi and Darren Sammy has led to speculation that Shoaib Malik may be disappointed with his future as a cricketer.

And now he will pursue a coaching career, but the facts are the opposite and he still wants to play international cricket.

When contacted, PCB Media Director Samiul Hassan Burney said that Shoaib Malik has not yet retired from international cricket and is therefore available for national team selection.

If the selectors select him for the Twenty20 World Cup, we will appoint an alternative mentor in the PJL.

It is to be noted that the World Cup will start on October 16 while the proposed dates of the Pakistan Junior League are from October 1 to 15.

Due to the close dates of the mega event, some big foreign players could not be hired as mentors. Unavailable due to other engagements.
